I am suicide but I don't want you.
The word suicide has become a thing that has populated the minds of youths and a few adults in Nigeria.
Years ago, the report of suicide was low and it was barely even recorded. It is noted that the recent happenings of the society has taken its toll on the psychological part of a youth's mind. From having poor grades in the University to parents who most times talk down their children, thinking that it is the right way to train a child.
An African parent, has been known to train a child in wrong ways such as using bad words or insults to pass a message in the name of cautioning. Most African parents have no idea how most of their emotionally sensitive words does to their kids whole growing up and even while grown up.
70% of Nigerian parents contribute to the suicide rates of youths today alongside the educational stress from lecturers and pressure from peers who exhibit a fake life which makes a goal filled youth jealous and disappointed of his unfavorable state.
With the high rate of suicide in the country, more youths have been subjected to depression and having a solution such as killing themself, has now been a go-to for depressed youths.
Unfortunately, most Nigerians are not familiar with the word depression and even most times condemn those who come out in public to announce the fact that suicidal thoughts runs through their minds. Which is a wrong move to make as a helper or friend even a stranger.
My advice is, whenever you come across someone or even a friend who gives off a sign of not being interested in what normally makes him happy, or constant whining, unwanted emotional decision or even unconsciously or even playfully stating the fact that he is giving up on life itself. I urge people who are already sane, to help these people. They may be your close friends and even family members.
Not everyone is strong enough like people who can tolerate hardship or unfortunate events but bashing them and calling them weak and even giving examples of what they would miss enjoying is a trigger to them.
This message is made for those who pass through a lot and have been depressed, life may come at you in different forms but giving up can be the trigger to another person who might end up like you.
I am speaking from experience, I have been depressed and have had severe suicidal thoughts but I reach out to people who matter and talk me out.
Suicide itself doesn't want you because you are amazing. God needs you, God wants you to fulfill the blessings he has placed in store for you. God made you in his image and expects you to walk and talk like his son, God has given us the grace to walk against such trial and tribulations.
This Earth is filled with things that make us fall to temptation but the sudden rise of killing oneself is a sin before the heavens above.
Jesus Christ came to conquer all dominating power of darkness and strong hold of the devil. Besides, when Jesus suffered hate and condemnation, he never one day felt that he had to give up, he only prayed for them and saved them in every aspect he could.
We should always put in the back of our minds what we stand to become. Put in the back of our minds that our savior went through so much more and we should be like him and make decisions like him.
When Jesus died, he died with the burdens of the whole world in his heart, that is a thousand times worse than what you're feeling right this moment. He never killed himself, rather his death was by the hands of sinners.
Each heartache you feel today, God above feels it. Each time you feel empty and suicidal, speak to God for he is the only medium through which you get healed mentally and physically.
Depression and suicide does not need to be the final bus stop for you. The moment your breakthrough is in the corner, the devil places an invisible cloak of frustration, meanwhile your goals are right in front of you.
Do not be a subject to death when it isn't your time. Be you, be God's icon, be a marvel and be the magnet that pulls more suicidal people to God. Be the good news and also remember that with every disappointment comes a blessing.
Don't die today and cause another soul to be a slave to suicidal tendencies. Do not die today and destroy the hopes of those who make you who you are or see you as an idol.
With God, everything is possible and whenever you feel that pull, run to your silent spot and cry to God. This is the best therapy because you are bound to feel your problems washed away and your heart cleared.
I have been in the lane of depression when I look around me and see that my dreams aren't a breakthrough, rather I speak to friends who remind me daily that I am great, that they love me for what I do and who I am going to become.
Suicide will only make the devil satisfied and make you forever indebted to him in the after life.
Be the man and woman that God has assigned into this Earth for a greater good. No man is hopeless and no man is dreamless. No matter the skin, color or religion. God sees us through our heart and gives us a hope for our tomorrow.
