SEQUEL: EKAETE, YOU CANNOT TEXT MY HUSBAND!

Her eyes shot open and she peeped behind her. When did she become so uncertain about Samson? All because of Ekaete!
Jealousy, a foreign emotion suddenly consumed her heart.
She jumped to her feet and went to meet Samson in their bedroom. He was loosening his tie when she walked in. He looked at her but didn’t say anything. Busola was at loss for words. She had braced for them to discuss the matter when he returned but she didn’t expect his silent treatment.
Had she gone about the issue the wrong way?
His phone beeped with a message and Busola tensed at the thought that it could be Ekaete still messaging her husband.
Samson continued to give his wife silent treatment and her resentment for Ekaete grew each day. By this time, Busola’s prayers had turned into curses she rained upon the girl. She couldn’t stop the downward spiral her spiritual life had gone into. After two days of no reaction from Samson, she decided to confront him.
“I need to talk to you,” she said one morning.
“I need to be at work.”
“For how long will you continue to give me the silent treatment, Samson?”
“You should have thought about that before accusing me of having an extramarital affair!”
She was shocked. She didn’t remember the last time Samson had raised his voice at her.
“I am simply protecting my interest. Husbands are being snatched by greedy, gold-digging girls these days and I don’t want us to fall victim.”
“Are you even listening to yourself?” He scoffed and shook his head. “If I had known you were so insecure, nagging and irrational I would have thought twice about you. I will text who I want and call who I want. You cannot control me Busola!”
The door slammed shut behind him and Busola stared at the empty space her husband had been in utter surprise. With a deep breath, she held in her tears and called her mother. In between tears, she poured out her story.
“Busola, why didn’t you tell me about this before you took any action?”
“I’m sorry mom, I thought I was doing the right thing.”
“Your father and I have been married for over three decades and it has not all been smooth sailing. You need wisdom and patience to deal with such matters in marriage.”
“But what do I do? I can’t lose Samson. Our quarrel might put a strain on the children too.”
“Samson is a good man. He takes care of you and the children with everything he has. I want you to apologize to him and be patient with him. You might have accused him of something he never even considered.”
“Okay mom, I will do as you have said.”
After the call, Busola fell on her knees before God in prayer. She had never been an insecure wife, so why did she have to start now? Samson had always liked her confidence but all that confidence seemed to have gone out the window at the threat of Ekaete getting too close to her husband.
Busola prayed for patience, forgiveness from God for taking matters into her own hands and using her own understanding.
“Lord, I thank you for returning Samson to me, I thank you for healing the rift in our marriage, I thank you because from now on, you will give me wisdom on how to approach matters with my husband. I thank you for restoring my confidence and building my faith. For in Jesus name I have prayed. Amen.”
Later that night, Busola fell into a trance where she saw herself, Ekaete and Samson walking down a road. The road split into two ways and Ekaete took another path while she and Samson took the other path. The couple walked hand in hand. That was when she came out of the trance.
Busola held on to her faith that things would be alright between her and Samson. It didn’t seem that way at first because he blatantly texted Ekaete in her presence. She wasn’t moved by his actions and decided not to let anger get the best of her. Instead, she focused her attention on taking care of the children. Their jokes and games always made her happy whenever she felt sad or discouraged. Samson was careful not to transfer his attitude to his interaction with the children and she was glad that there was no strain on his relationship with them.
After the children had gone to school and Samson had gone to work, Busola took a day off because she felt weak. She had a cold for days but had ignored it. She knew Samson’s office was near a pharmacy so she sent him a text message to buy her some cold medicine. She hadn’t made a request from him in days and didn’t know what to expect.
Later that evening, when he returned from work, he placed the plastic bag containing the medicine on the table before her along with a bottle of water. She smiled graciously at him and for a moment he stared at her.
“I can’t remember when last you smiled genuinely at me.” He said.
“And I can’t remember the last time we had a proper conversation.” She said.
“What happened to us?” Samson whispered.
“I got carried away by jealousy.” She sighed.
“The fault is not all yours. I’m sorry for hurting you Busola. I should have been more sensitive to your feelings.”
She grinned widely and grabbed her husband in a tight hug. She was grateful to God for giving them a brand new start.
